Little Rainbows Academy in Derby has been developed to meet the needs of today’s parents and their children. We provide high-quality childcare and early years education in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 12 years.

Located on the corner of Alvaston Street and Green Lane in Alvaston, Derby (formerly St. John Fisher Convent), our nursery is committed to delivering outstanding care and education through a dedicated team of qualified practitioners.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Nursery Manager to join our team and support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate childcare professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and help build a successful and thriving nursery.

The role is available for 32–40 hours per week, with a starting salary of £13.50–£14.50 per hour while nursery occupancy continues to grow, with opportunities for future progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager with the daily operation of the nursery.
• Lead and motivate the nursery team to deliver high-quality care and education.
• Ensure compliance with EYFS requirements, safeguarding procedures, and all relevant legislation.
• Act as the Nursery Manager in their absence.
• Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and supervision.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and external professionals.
• Help drive occupancy growth and contribute to the nursery’s continued success.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing throughout the setting.
• Assist with planning, monitoring, and maintaining quality standards across the nursery.

Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (essential).
• Previous experience in a senior nursery role, such as Room Leader, Third in Charge, or Deputy Nursery Manager.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• A genuine passion for providing outstanding childcare and supporting children’s development.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
